Week three is here and I find myself excited to complete my album pages. I tried to get mom on board this week and she is still a little hesitant but I remind her and anyone else that it took me some time to get into it and find my style and methods… now I’m hooked. Here is my week three layout, enjoy!
Week Three: January 13th – 19th 2014
About this week: I didn’t do a whole lot of picture taking this week. I’ve been working a lot during the week so most of the photos are from over the weekend. I tried a few new techniques with paper cutting and text printing.
Cameras, printers & software used: Canon 5DMKIII, 24-70mmL lens, iPhone 5 camera, Pic Tap Go app, Photoshop CS5, Epson Photo Stylus 1400 printer on Epson paper.
Memorabilia Used: business card.
Project Life products used: Design A page sleeves, Project Life Core Kit Sunshine Edition, Project Life Core Kit Jade Edition, Amy Tangerine’s Cut & Paste Mini Kit, Grainy Goodness by Amy Tangerine’s Cut & Paste line, Vinyl Thickers, black fine tip pen, gold Sharpie
Title card from the Sunshine Core Kit, camera card from a mini kit. I kept it simple. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue to always just have a card like this for the title or start to utilize the space. Perhaps on busier weeks when I need more space I will use it more creatively. I seem to be starting a trend where I take photos of feet for the upper right hand photo slot on the left page. It’s been unintentional to date but maybe I’ll keep it up.
I tried to keep a similar color scheme going on between my two pages. Brown faux wood paper, white, a coral pink color seem to flow between pages to help pull your eyes around the layout.
I used a gold sharpie to write the text on the hot chocolate photo. I had some fun with this side of the layout. Illustrating a song I’ve been obsessed with this week, business card from where we ate dinner, a couple of photographs. I started to incorporate some 3D elements. The Thickers and the wood veneer pieces.
This Kraft card has lyrics to a song I can’t get enough of from a band called Sons of the Sea with Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd (one of my favorites!). I copied the lyrics off of a lyric website and pasted them in a 4×6 card layout I made (basically splitting it in half and creating a text box to fit the lyrics in). I adjusted them to fit how I wanted and printed it. I added a paper tab to pull the card out as I wrote some other stuff on the back about the song. Added a little wood veneer heart. Totally obsessed card is from a mini Project Life kit called teen boy theme kit. I bought the girl and boy teen kits because they had some cute stuff in them that my 30 something year old self wouldn’t mind using :D
The hello 3×4 card is from the Jade Core Kit.
I was one 4×6 photo short so I used a journal card. We had dinner at Chipotle so I grabbed one of the business cards and jotted some notes on it. I added a Studio Calico arrow over the name of whoever the card was for because, well, I don’t need to remember any of that I just wanted the logo!
This was a faux wood paper by Amy Tan. I sliced some white card stock and jotted text on them. I repeated this process on the other side of my layout. (added balance). The little white star and pink numbers and letters are Thickers I had from ages ago. They are made of vinyl.
That’s it. I kept it simple but still added some personality. I’m really enjoying Project Life this time around. Glad I gave it one more year.
